dear civilea professionals
i donot recommend you to use this book. the detail are old (in case of code provisions) and they are not absolutely suitable for seismic areas , i one project i read a lot of book , bs codes , new zealand code , aci code and a lot of text books , believe me , donot waste your valuable time on this book becouse of out dated , non technical detail like 90 degree hooks and stirrups, for alternative , i suggest you the following books:
1-AIJ structural design guidelines for reinforced concrete buildings, Architectural Institute of Japan, 1994
3- M.A. Mansor, Kiang-Hwee Tan, Concrete Beams with Openings Analysis and Design, CRC Press, 1999
4- Edward G. Nawy, Concrete Construction Engineering Handbook, CRC Press, 2008
5- CRSI Design Handbook 2008, Based upon the 2008 ACI Building Code, Concrete Reinforcing SteelInstitute, 2008
6- J.C. MaCromac, R.H. Brown, Design of Reinforced Concrete 8Th Edition, 2009
7- H.Stamenkovic, Innovative Shear Design, Spon Press, 2002
8- J.K. Wight, J.G. MACGREGOR, Reinforced concrete Mechanics and Design 6th Edition, Pearson Press, 2012
9- R. Park, T. Paulay, Reinforced Concrete Structures, Wiley Press, 1979
10- M.N. Hassoun, A. AL.Manaseer, Structural Concrete, Theory and Design , 4th Edition , Wiley Press , 2008
11- ACI SP-208, Examples for the Design of Structural Concrete with Strut-and-Tie Models, ACI Press, 2002
12- M. Y. H. Bangash, Structural Detailing in Concrete, 2nd edition , Thomas Telford Press , 2003
13- B.S.Taranath , Reinforced Concrete Design of Tall Buildings , CRC Press , 2010
14- ACI –SP66, ACI Detailing Manual, 2004
15- AWS-D1.4-D1.4M, Structural Welding Code, Reinforcingsteel-2005
16- JSCE Guidelines for Concrete, Standard Specifications for Concrete Structures “Design”, 2007, Japan Society for Civil Engineers
i spent a month to find out what detail for seimic areas are correct.
however this is my suggestion and beside you can find all of the above references in the civilea forum.
regards
smith

The book is intended for use in Singapore and some non-seismic zone countries so it doesn't necessarily mean that it is useless. All the references mentioned above are for seismic zone areas. Regards

there are a lot of problem with this book:
1- there is no beam column joint stirrup in the following picture , no regulation for distance of first stirrup to beam column joint :

or the following details for founadtion :

again with hook angles :

beside this manual have a lot of double the same page scanned , in fact there are a lot of details which is not covered.
in the following pictures you can find some correct detail in comparison to the above details :

why should we use old and out dated books and standards?
