Castings Research and Trade Association (SCRATA) reference comparators for the visual determination of
surface roughness and surface discontinuities described as follows:

⎯ nonmetallic inclusions;
⎯ gas porosity;
⎯ fusion discontinuities;
⎯ expansion discontinuities;
