This Code of Practice provides guidelines for the professionals and practitioners on design, analysis and construction of foundations. It was prepared by the Drafting Committee for the Code of Practice for Foundations convened by the Buildings Department. This Code of Practice is based on the requirements of the Buildings Ordinance and related regulations, and has taken into account the local conditions, work practice and development of new technologies in analysis, design and construction of foundations. Although this Code of Practice is not a statutory document, the compliance with the requirements of this Code of Practice is deemed to satisfy the relevant provisions of the Buildings Ordinance and related regulations. The contributions and efforts given by the invited members of the Drafting Committee in the preparation of this Code of Practice are greatly appreciated.
