Hi All.

Please anybody Share Technical Papers or Journals On Soft Storey Effect And Design Approach on Hi-Rise buildings With Software's.
Soft storey effect is related to stiffness irregularities. depending upon stiffness of particular floor you may have soft story or extreme soft storey (refer your seismic code).

You may expect soft - storey in following condition:

(1) At ground floor with parking (no walls) and walls with considerable stiffness at upper floors.
(2) At upper recess floor with no walls and walls with considerable stiffness at other floors.
(3) At floor where there is sudden reduction in overall stiffness of floor (columns/shear walls/brick walls) as compared to other floors.

Approximate design approach:

(1) Soft-storey elements (column, shear wall, floor beams above and below floor) may be designed for 2.5 times worst load. (may be other value for other country code). If you have no cladding walls or walls with lesser stiffness (i.e. less thickness or with large opening) then you may reduce this multiplying factor by appropriate value.

Exact design approach:

You may model cladding wall as bracing (of representative size, search forum) along with other structural element and perform dynamic analysis and design structural members for the worst load.
