Hi, Im new here. I need help from people here about progressive collapse. I know there is GSA Progressive collapse but I need guide to really understand this GSA code and how to produce analysis using software such as STAADPro. Thanks in advance,,
I need it too. I am searching at the moment. I will share once i find it.
I found this relevant thread

Guys Staad Pro is not a software you should be looking for if you want to know about progressive collapse analysis . It is not that high end , you will be needing a software/program code that takes discretion into account . There are only three ways of doing it .You can use any one of these
1) Applied element method
2) Discrete element method
3) Finite-Discrete Element Method
AEM has its own programmable code . I used it for my own thesis l, DEM is used widely for soil-structure and many geotechnical analysis, and FDEM it is similiar to dem and fem both but very good .
All the above mentioned methods are research oriented you need to work for nearly 6-8 month just only to understand them. As far as Progressive Collapse analysis is concerned , you need to develop a nonlinear model or use one use it in fem code and the Force-displacement curve for every member of the structure . Now you have to use the FEMA code to find see the plastic hinges and points .
I would recommend SAP2000 because i used the software for this purpose .
I have given a very very concise methodology for progressive collapse analysis .
You have also use ansys or abaqus . They are meant for such high end purpose only .
