diaphragm - nidhimenon - 03-11-2010

Can anybody please explain me the exact distinction between Rigid and flexible diaphragms. For concerte floor slabs we designate rigid diaphragm, how correct is the assumption? What will be the impacts if the same is designated as a flexible diaphragm .

Regards,

Nidhi

Deflection is the main difference in classifying rigid and flexible diaphragms. A concrete slab is properly modeled as a rigid diaphragm. Please follow link for more info.
