STAAD Steel Design Parameters - syedmuzaffer - 11-03-2009

Hii friends,

I was designing steel structures using staad ,
I used both BS5950 and IS 800 LSD as the code.
There are a number of parameters in the steel design to BS or IS.
The explanation to them in Staad is not adequate, it would be wonderful if we share the knowledge we have of these parameters, their uses and references.
Thanks hoping for a positive responce

ops sorry,
my bad.. ok
these are some parameters which i dont understand.. so if you can help me it would be wonderful...

1. AD (distance between the reference axis and axis of restraint)

2.CB (used to calculate MB)

3.ESTIFF

4.KY, KZ

5.LY, LZ

6. NSF - (net section factor for tension members)

7.ratio

8.UNF , UNL

please do help me
thanks

Confused

RE: STAAD Steel Design Parameters - rohailiyaz - 11-07-2009

1.CB (detail available in chapter F ASD......use 1 for conservative)
2. KZ = it depends on your end conditions of major axis
3.KY, KX = 1 usually(depend on your minor axis bracing condition)

4.LY, LX: its the length in minor axes. it depends on your minor axis bracing
for example if we use purlin at 1.5 m spacing LX = 1.5

5.LZ = your maximum unbraced length in major axis

6. NSF - 1

7.ratio =1

UNF n UNL where are these...there is UNT & UNB
