More Efficient Dawings - alexbv - 01-02-2014
Hello everybody!
I am in doubt about the program to use for elaborating my future drawings.
Normally I use Autocad without any lisps added and the drawing process is going well enough.
Recently i started using Autocad Structural Detailing (reinforcement) for generating my drawings for a 2 story house and I was surprised to discover that it was by far not as efficient as i initially thought.
My question to you is can you recommend me a program beside Autocad or Autocad Structural Detaling, maybe an add-on to Autocad to ease the drawing stage?
Another question is related to Autocad Strucural Detaling. Do any of you have a tutorial, or a manual, for this program (reinforcement/steel) beside those near helpless user-guides from Autodesk?

Nowadays there are many programs that do structural detailing very well. However, every program has some advantages and of course some disadvantages. It is you to decide which program best fulfills your needs. For example you said you are using AutoCAD for your small project detailing, but you know that AutoCAD is stupid at detailing and managing the drawings of a big project, since it is not dynamic.
Revit Structure together with AutoCAD Structural Detailing is not a bad option. However, from my point of view, if you want to use an excellent program for detailing and managing of steel, concrete,... projects, Tekla Structures is the pioneer. You can find the download links and tutorials in the forum.

I recomand you the Graitec suite. It will give you every thing you want. You can visit the Graitec page on youtube to make an opinion.

For your detailing/drawings i recommend you Cypecad and Cype 3d, programs offered by Cype. Using these softwares, you can make the analysis and the detailing in the same software and export the drawings to a CAD software to finish the details created automatically. you can also use Nemetschek Allplan - is much better than Autocad. I've heard good things about it.

I have lots of experiende with Allplan - it is indeed very good software, but the last few versions are getting only worse/buggy and it seems that tech support has died. i would be cautious before investing money in it.
