Standard for Testing Cold Form Section - aziz - 04-23-2012

Dear all

What is the relevant standard for testing of cold formed steel sections according to EUROCODE? We want to carry out the testing of some cold formed steel sections according to that standard."

Hello aziz,

From my own experience the adequate standard for testing cold-formed (steel, I presume) members is Part 1.3 of EN 1993, in the first annex there( I think it is located on page 97) "Annex A [normative] – Testing procedures". There you will find guidelines rules and testing arrangements according to Eurocodes. Also there is an older notebook(which is very similar to Annex A) named "ECCS No 20 - The testing of profiled metal sheets". In many ways these two items are similar, and if I'm not mistaken the EN 1993 Annex A is based on the ECCS recommendations. Both provide guidelines regarding the testing of members, if you would like to test cold-formed member specific connection then you will have to look into "ECCS No 124 - The Testing of Connections with Mechanical Fasteners in Steel Sheeting and Sections" - this notebook is provided free of charge on the ECCS.
I hope I provided you the info you requested, safe testing and have a nice day!
