slope stability - rohailiyaz - 06-13-2011

i am working on the design of a raw water treatment plant. and for that i have to analyze the slope for stability.
can any one provide some guidance which book i should go through to understand following things:
1. types of failures in slopes
2. methods of analyzes for slope stability

Hello,
The easiest way is to search through forum in geotechnical e-books section. I think that any book regarding slope stability is ok.

I suggest you to go through this

Slope Stability Analysis and Stabilization: New Methods and Insight
Chen and Lau

For analyzing you could use:

Limite equilibrium method (Slide, Slope /W, and so on)
Finite element method (Plaxis...etc)
"Hybrid" method FEM+LEM (only on geoslope softwares or soilvision softwares)
