Full Version: Strut and Tie Modelling to New AS3600 Provisions

Strut-and-tie modelling (STM) has been increasingly accepted for the design of concrete structures since it was promoted in the 1980s. In the time since, the method has seen continuing development such that it is now a mature method and its application has been considerably expanded in AS3600-200X. The presentation will outline the Australian requirements, plus demonstrate how the method can be used in conjunction with linear-elastic finite element modelling. Linear and non-linear analysis methods, combined with lower bound plasticity design processes, and with local detailing methods such as strut-and-tie modelling, can form the basis of design of new, complex, structures that are not easily dimensioned using other rational design methods.

The 26-pages pdf file has been presented by Prof. Peter Dux (UQ) in a seminar in Australia 2009. Please find the attached file below.
