Conceptual Structural Design aims to bridge the gap between engineers and architects understanding of structural form and highlight the importance of close collaboration between all members of the design team throughout a project. This book is presented in two parts. The first part is theoretical and investigates source of inspiration for developing structural form, learning from natural forms, applying our own intuition, seeking inspiration from precedents, applying understanding of structural principles, developing design through physical models, and using new design tools, construction methods and materials to develop new structural forms. The second part of the book is presented through a selection of case studies which include interviews with the design teams.
