Dear All,
I was browsing site for GGU-applications for geotechnical engineering. What are your valuable opinions about applicability of these softwares in civil engineering practice?.

Also, are these softwares based on FEM like PLAXIS and other similiar applications and in use how much user friendly they are?

Thanks in advance for valuable opinions.

I can suggest GGU-Retain. I use often this software in my shoring system analyses. It's really user friendly and simple.

Using Plaxis is more complicated. Comparing with my hand calculation, GGU has always the best success for me.
Similar to GGU retaining, there are the Paratie 2012 (DeepXcav), also on the forum, with high reliability.
Other SW available on the forum are from Geostru (SPW) or the geotechnical suite of Bentley, and many other generally based on 1D fem
but I've never used that.
A good and reliable choice is also the RUNET BETONexpress/ retaining wall module which is also in here.

Bentley suite supports FEM in retaining wall stability analysis. I also find it quite friendly even for the non-experienced user.
