The purpose of this publication is to show how to apply the principles of limit state design in Eurocode 2 by means of a simple worked example for a reinforced concrete building frame.
The example has been chosen to include different structural elements, rather than to indicate the most economic form of construction. The calculations and details are presented in a form suitable for design office purposes and are generally in accordance with the publications listed below. The appropriate UK National Annex is to be used in conjunction with each Eurocode.

Some of the calculations with regard to detailing and curtailment are included for illustration purposes only. In practice, these requirements would normally be the concern of the detailer.
