Why peoples nowadays adopt using BS code ? Any disadvantages or advantages using BS code and Euro Code ?
The Euro code(called BS EN by the British) will fully replace the BS codes of practice. The BS codes will not or may never be updated again. Officially the BS codes of practice were withdrawn in march 2010. Say BS 8110 for reinforced concrete, it has not been updated since 1997(make a conclusion here...) and it may never be updated by the relevant authority since the British will divert their attention to understanding and using EC2.
There are a number of advantages of EC over BS. These include( as extracted from "The How series").

1. The new Euro codes are claimed to be the most technically
advanced codes in the world.
2. Euro code 2 should result in more economic structures than
BS 8110.
3. The Euro codes are logical and organised to avoid repetition.
4. Eurocode 2 is less restrictive than existing codes.
5. Eurocode 2 is more extensive than existing codes.
6. Use of the Eurocodes will provide more opportunity for designers
to work throughout Europe.
7. In Europe all public works must allow the Eurocodes to be used.

The above advantages have been written basing on EC2 but do apply to all EC codes of practice.
Hope this answers your question.
Regards.
And by the way, the EC code has been or will be adopted by approximately 38 European countries. And it may not stop here, all former British and other European country colonies will adopt the EC codes. This may end up being the biggest Civil/Structural Engineering community ever and will join the ranks of this Forum,CivilEA!!!
