Yes I agree with alih3s. With the valuable information provided I definately dont mind paying a small sum of money for maintaining the server etc.

Definately a viable option to consider.
Hello
I am new in this site and if you allow I would like to give my opinion
This problem of active and inactive users is the problem of all the forums. And it is not easy to find a solution, but as you know the number of members and a number of visits and also an asset to the forum.
What I propose is not to ban non-active members but rather to limit their benefits
Example:
1-Access to the site limited to active members in case of great pressure on the site
2-Limiting their access to the download links
3- Get advantage when you post
The idea is to encourage members to be active and to respect forum rules, not punish them for being inactive

I hope i was clear, i have some difficulty with English
I agree with DavidAlejo......some of us work a lot of hours and dont have the time to do a lot of posts.... but in my case, I enter every day for help and info, but cant stay very long, so I dont really create a lot of traffic in the forum.

Please reconsider that policy.....

Thanks and congratulation to Admin for this great Forum...

I disagree with the elimination of inactive users, we really need the information that the forum provides, which is of great importance to our professional performance, you really help engineers become better professionals around the world, you are the way to know the different technologies that are applied at least in this part of the hemisphere

I propose the elimination of users who have some time without entering the forum
but not the elimination of the users that use your forum very often

This is a bad new, and I totally desagree, it would be a good thing to have same changes to help the forum, please let me know.

thanks.
Sorry my dear friend, but I think I completely disagree with you. A member of the Forum since February 2009 put the first post after the Admin has been notified to remove inactive users, I think it´s not the best detail possible. Do not have time to participate? Sorry but I cannot believe it. I have to meet my engineering office at least 10 hours a day, meet my family and students too, and I still spend a few minutes a day to my forum (sorry Admin, but I also feel that this Forum is part of me). As me you can find BennyP, Grunf, Dell Brett Roberts, Kamran, Concreteok, and others engineering professionals with full agendas but are efforts to engage and maintain the Forum as everyone can see, day after day.
Some of us away for periods of time? if we do, for reasons of health, work, or on vacation, but we make every effort to maintain contact. A comment, a question, a message ... Is it too much ask?
I see positively that members who have never been active now make the effort to stay in the Forum. Leoncito is a clear example in the last days. He is working hard to stay inside. Now, if you want to stay in the Forum, who must make the effort? Admin? Admin must fight for everything to flow smoothly for those who work daily in “our” Forum and for those who just enjoy it? It is the other effort that should keep them inside or is your own efforts? You want to stay inside without contributing anything? without spending anything? Sorry but the argument line is have not necessary substance and no weight (it's my way of thinking)
This space was created for engineers concerned to grow intellectually and professionally, to share information and experiences, not to download the latest structural calculation software to sell it to students or other engineers or to use it until you get one better from free, through the efforts of others, as Timosi, who has managed to create patches to evaluate some engineering packages, without receiving a penny, only our infinite gratitude.
You want to stay in the forum? participate, contribute… There´s no other way

I agree with engineerdz proposal
Hello
Think about students like me, in forums like this have come to understand better some concepts of structural engineering, thanks to people of experience and enough knowledge to share in this community for free.
As students, we learn, that's the main reason we're here, we may say hard difficulty, or contribute knowledge to the community, but of course, we only observe and create a review of "X" theme that is of interest for us, sometimes we give thanks, in others not, but so should be the essence of all the forums, so thank CIVILEA freedom let us walk in his house, of course, that freedom, users enter no criteria, but I am sure that nobody pays attention to them, nobody reads what they think and perhaps (as students) saturate the forum and create chaos technical, in that case, I believe that the forum owner must do what you think good and efficient.
If I go out this great forum, I must appreciate the time that allowed me to be home and how much they learned and if not so thanks for your understanding.

Greetings from Mexico, and Good Luck.

P.D. Sorry for the English

1 .- I agree, how could it not be?. MY VOTE WAS = I AGREE
2 .- But a better solution would be to keep members and registered and the new conditions would be for new ones.
3 .- I'm doing my best to add any important document.
4 .- I reported as spam and not even know why.
5 .- All this respect conmucho
6 .- I want very much to continue in the forum.
7 .- Sorry, my English is short and not very good

I agree with Admin proposal. But I think I shouldn't be too strick!
I will totally agree with the Admin proposal. I have been lurking in this Forum for the past 12 months and have noticed that recently the posts in the 'Problems' sectionis becoming very interesting. It is a shame to see some Engineers doing stuff without truly understanding Engineering behaviour. It is now becoming of a trend that anlysis and design software is now professing that it can do anything under the moon including launching rockets. This is extremelt dangerous, when software is only a tool. As a result, I decided to contribute particularly in that section, hoping to aid some of the younger Engineers.
