Na2O, K2O, Li2O; MeO include CaO and MgO; and Me2O3 include Al2O3. These two types of binders can be manufactured by directly mixing alkaline activators (sodium, potassium alkalis and salts) into ground metallurgical slags, fly ashes and natural pozzolans. Some other components may be added to improve the properties of the binders. These binders can display much better mechanical and durability properties than conventional cement and concrete. It uses industrial by-products or recycled materials as major components, consumes very minimal amount of energy, and has no direct release of greenhouse gases. Thus, it is a really "Green Cement".
