Hi!

I don't know the system requirements of the software that you use and have no idea about your budget. Anyways, take a look at this one :

Core i3 is a big big plus.

Here's another one:

But I personally don't recommend AMDs.

Btw, where do you live? You can PM me.

Will be able to help you more if you make things a bit more clear.
Regards,
Prince
Sorry I forgot to specify the names of the notebooks. The first one is Acer Aspire AS7740-5142 and the second one is HP Pavilion DV6-2144NR.

I've a Dell Precision M4300 and it's a very good machine. The new Precision M6500 is a beast, with core i7, up to 16Gb Ram and a prof. graphics card Ati Fire or Nvidia Quadro. It's expensive, but is a good option if you need a very powerful a robust laptop.

:preved: i used toshiba with pentium III core , it's perfect for sap 2000 and perform 3D.
but itis not good for civil 3D

Precision M6500???:scared::wacko2: I think he is a civil engineer not a rocket scientist. Even those who buy high end desktop PCs don't go for the i7. i7 is not recommended for regular users. It is a super-efficient processor mainly used for commercial purposes. i5 is the one that is recommended for most high-end home users.

And there are big differences between the M4300 & M6500 both in specs and price. The M6500's prices start out at $2,749 for the basic model. But may be you are right. To me it's needless.I think he just needs an average laptop around the $750 mark. We are yet to receive a reply from him regarding his needs and budget. Right?

Cheers,
Prince

the i3 is much better than the core 2 duos. I don't think that there's a big price difference. Maybe the acer is cheaper. And Toshiba is not among the best laptop manufactures in the world.

Prince
