RE: New section - Grunf - 06-28-2009

Great idea. I was thinking the same way.

RE: New section - RedHorse - 09-05-2009

U've got the Perfect Idea.... Civil/Structural Engineering Library

RE: New section - Dell_Brett - 09-06-2009

Recently was open the "MAGAZINE" section.
How about join all together?
The RedHorse name suggestion is nice!

Dell

RE: New section - Grunf - 09-07-2009

I didn't want to open new thread named similar to this one, that's why I'm posting here.

I have suggestion to open new forum called "International eBooks" for eBooks non-written in English, where would be sub forums called according to the language the eBook is written.

e.g.;
International eBooks
|-------------------------Spanish
|-------------------------Portuguese
|-------------------------Russian
|-------------------------German
|-------------------------Croatian
|-------------------------Serbian
|-------------------------Slovenian
|-------------------------Macedonian
|-------------------------French
|-------------------------Italian
|-------------------------Turkish
|-------------------------Japanese
|-------------------------Hungarian
|-------------------------Czech
|-------------------------Korean
|-------------------------Vietnamese
|-------------------------Romanian
|-------------------------Malay
|-------------------------Indonesian
|-------------------------Greek
|-------------------------Swedish
|-------------------------Bulgarian
|-------------------------Danish
.
.
etc. (that's just a few languages I could remember, so if this idea gets alive add other languages that I unintentionally forgot.)

I'm suggesting this because of fact that here on forum are numerous people speaking/ reading non-English languages and I think that we all have allot of eBooks that aren't written in English that can be shared among us. E.g. I have eBooks written in Croatian that I would like to share..

I appreciate your opinion.
Regards
G

Dear Grunf;

Nice idea! Sounds good for me (particularly for magazines, articles, thesis and similar publications)!
But, I think that could be a sub-section into the "MAGAZINE" (or "Civil/Structural Engineering Library" name as suggested) named: "NON-ENGLISH PUBLICATIONS".

And, always keep in mind that is a world wide forum and we needs to have a only one common language. No ones like to be in the biggest engineering forum and the "Babel Tower" too!

Let's see others opinions!

Thanks a lot!

Dell

RE: New section - Yasir - 09-07-2009

very good idea...

RE: New section - Grunf - 09-07-2009

Dear Dell,

I absolutely agree with you saying:

Everything written on this forum should and must be written on English so other people can understand what we all are trying to say. With my idea from above I'm not supporting writing in any other language rather than English on this forum. I'm just thinking that it would be a good idea to have International eBook (or Non-English Publications) section just for sharing links to the books and, to the magazines (great idea). In this section shouldn't be allowed any kind of chating, discussion, requests, or something else.. Just for sharing links to the material that someone have uploaded. Other members who understand the language of written books can inform the administrator or moderators about the incorrectness of the post.

G

RE: New section - Dell_Brett - 09-07-2009

Thanks Grunf,

I think our ideas are aligned! and I do agree that yours idea (Non-english books) is good!
I just want to take care, and suggest to starts in Magazine section.
Why?
1- Because the books section is not full organized yet. In other hands, the Magazine is brand new and easy to monitoring/organize;
2- We don't know exactly to do when we have the same book, same edition in different languages (Put in a separate section or together?);
3- Open for any language or only for few ones?

My native language is Portuguese (Brazilian Portuguese). My second language is Spanish. English I'm just learning! So, it's easy to see that I'll never against this idea!
I have a lot of Spanish publications, Portuguese, German etc.

I'd just like to suggest to take care... suggest to go step by step!

My best Regards

Dell
