I noticed that some (especially new) users of the forum writing all kind of nonsense as well as they are posting in the wrong sections of the forum despite the fact that they are warned. ...so I have one suggestion: Is there a way to limit new users of the forum to write their first post before they read forum rules? For example - in one forum you can't write your first post until you read the rules - when you try to write your first post you are automatically sent to the rules section of the forum where you have to read that rules and (or just) wait that timer on the button I ACCEPT expire. After that timer on the button expire you can click on the button I ACCEPT and then you can write your fist post but still the first post can be only in the section kind-like "Introduce yourself!" or "Introduce new users!" And there (in that forum) is one more thing - that you can't see all section of the forum before you introduce your self.
I'm not saying that this will stop users to write nonsense posts and threads but I believe that is at least the only way to make users to "SEE" the forum rules (to SEE that these rules really EXISTS)

Grunf, I do not think it is a good idea. How many of you click on "I Accept the terms and conditions" in every site, where registration is required, without actually reading them? The best practice will be moderators to give warnings to the members, who do not follow the rules. Thus they will be obliged to read the rules and follow them or they may be banned.

Are all these so difficult for you to follow? Seems USELESS to you?
I know we have a lot of things others can offer. You can even search them in RS or 4shared. But we have experience people listening to your real work problem. Someone here photocopy a book and another one take the labour scan it for you. We just try to make this a better place for civil engineer to grow, to learn. Not to dictace nor to terrorise anyone.
Now, if i may say, my own opinion, not reflecting any other forum team members, GO IF YOU WISH.

And the Admin post about Registration Closed and inactive members - "we prefer to continue even with 10 users but all of them were active".

Dear alisafei you are right - most of the links exists in other places but not all. If i didn't post Tekla SR5, someone will do but meanwhile you can wait and other forums will wait too. The same with other exclusive contribution of a few users in this forum.
The rules exists for making this forum different:

If you want to search something important for your work in a big heap of sh.. - thanks, stupid questions, photos of childrens and holly places go to other forums.
If you want to wait days to download something realy important for you and to find one file between 40 files corrupted, no crack inside, no instructions for installing and to waste your time go to other forums.
In my opinion last time this forum went in the same way and if it will stop now we have a chance to be better.
I wrote here in the past - not every one can contribute and limitting the registration in an absolute way may be a temporary solution but it will exclude new good users and leave inside the spammers, the thievs posting exclusive cracks in other forums and posting here useless post for suvive the new rule.
I don't like to tell this here, I'm sure many users will be angry but I have no access to the moderator's section and no to the VIP section so my advice to moderators:
Help every user asking for help (it's your duty) and warn and ban all the bad users. Writing every day please read the rules, activate you PM and so on don't help, you waste the space and your time. Let them to do what they want or stop them.
The users in this site must be engineers and I'm sure if part of them have the same behaviour at work quickly the boss will fire them.
I'm sure many users don't like the request like "I need it too" after 3-4 requests of the same so warn. If an user wrote "I installed and works.Thanks" I didn't warn him. It's not to much but it's maybe important for someone. Thanks only is spam. We have sections for discussion, problems, news and many others. Let's users to use them free if the subject fit the section.
The books and software must be different. So many books, so many programs and so many versions is complicated enough without users using them for requesting other programs or teaching good manners.

I know almost every name of those pressing the thanks button for my post and i'm happy they aggree with me. I still believe we are the good guys.
How funny to see after my post and similar posts of admin and moderators, users writing thank you (one of them member from Jan 2009) and more funny to see onother user pressing the thanks button to give thanks to the thank you of the first (the second one registered in Jan 2009 too).

Few minutes ago, a friend ask me (by phone) what means this 3 last posts (kowheng, concreteok and BennyP). Hi understands that we are talking about no more could use the THANKS button.
Cause this doubt sounds common to newbies and non-native english members, I'll post here the answer to him:
1- We are talking about members that create a new reply only to say "THANKS"!

still active, it's our "trade mark" and it's important to say "THANKS FOR THIS POST" or/and "I AGREE WITH THIS POST"
3- And, finally hi ask me again why the members couldn't create a new post to say thanks like others forum? I use my standard answer:
"Cause each time that any colleague create a new post to say "Thanks", we have one new post in the
"View New Posts | View Today's Posts" and a lot of new usefulness posts to see."
